Individuals can continue to use personal QR codes for transactions after March 1, according to a Tuesday statement released by the Payment & Clearing Association of China(PCAC), a self-regulatory industry organisation supervised by the People’s Bank of China.

There will be no suspension or closure of personal payments receipts codes that users originally hold, and their functionality will not change, said the PCAC in the announcement.

Payment platform will roll out new merchant barcodes for businesses to receive payments, the PCAC said. Businesses will be free to choose whether to use the new codes or continue to use their personal codes as before.

After the announcement, Alipay and WeChat Pay confirmed that individuals can continue to use personal QR codes to receive payments, and both offered the option of upgrading to a business payment receipt QR code free of charge.

The announcement came after the central bank issued a notice last October, asking third-party service providers including Alipay and WeChat to differentiate payment reception codes used for individual and business transaction. The notice said that users with “obvious business activities” should use business transaction codes instead of individual ones.

Business transaction codes will allow merchants to accept credit card payment and access ledger functions and transaction-related analysis, while better managing transactions risks and protecting their accounts, an official from the PCAC said.

2月22日，中国支付清算协会、微信支付、支付宝分别发布公告，对优化条码支付提出了一系列举措，其中新设的“个人经营收款码”引起普遍关注。

去年10月，人民银行发布《中国人民银行关于加强支付受理终端及相关业务管理的通知》，对收款条码支付提出一系列管理要求，并将于今年3月1日起施行。按照相关要求，“具有明显经营活动特征”的用户通过收款服务机构（如微信、支付宝等）申请转为商用收款码。

个人收款码可继续用。支付协会公告明确表示，用户可以自由选择使用新设的个人经营收款码。如果不想申请个人经营收款码，现有个人收款码可继续使用。微信支付和支付宝也表示，3月1日之后，不管是否升级，个人收款码都可以继续使用。

收款码升级免费。此次支付协会公告提出，服务不减、体验不变，赋码过程免费。对此，支付宝表示，升级过程完全免费；微信支付提出，用户可免费领取物料码牌。

个人经营收款码好处多。支付协会有关负责人表示，一方面，个人经营收款码可接受信用卡付款，还可以获得账务管理、交易对账、特定营销等增值服务。另一方面，个人经营收款码还能更好地实现交易风险防控，更有效地保障用户资金安全。

• Chinese authorities said they will prevent excessive hoarding of iron ore to keep its price stable by shortening the free storage period for iron ore traders and boosting costs of port-side inventories. The NDRC said Wednesday it will guide port firms to ensure that traders of the commodity bring inventories back to a reasonable level.

  严防铁矿石过度囤积：23日，国家发改委官方微信公众号发布，针对近期铁矿石市场供需总体稳定，但价格大幅上涨的异常情况，国家发改委价格司、市场监管总局价监竞争局联合组织港口协会及部分港口企业召开专题会议，研究大幅缩短贸易企业铁矿石免费堆存期、提高港口囤积成本，指导港口企业敦促铁矿石贸易企业释放过高库存，尽快恢复至合理水平。

• The Hong Kong SAR government unveiled on Wednesday its HK$170 billion ($21.8 billion) budget, including a HK$10,000 spending vouchers scheme for eligible residents and HK$24 billion to cover spending on quarantine facilities, vaccine programs, testing, drugs and services procurement to fight the pandemic. Hong Kong’s finance secretary Paul Chan also expected the city's economy to grow by 2 to 3.5 percent in 2022.

  香港1700亿港元逆周期措施：香港特区政府财政司司长陈茂波23日发表2022/2023财政年度特区政府财政预算案，特区政府将推出逾1700亿港元逆周期措施，助社会渡过难关。根据预算案的安排，特区政府还将再次向合资格的香港居民派发电子消费券，并加码至每人一万港元。同时，他预测香港经济全年实质增长在2%至3.5%之间。

• The Chinese mainland added 85 locally transmitted cases on Wednesday, scattering across 10 provinces and regions, including 40 in Inner Mongolia and 10 in Hubei province.

• Personal computer giant Lenovo Group on Wednesday announced its profit growth soared 62 percent to a record high of $640 million in the quarter ended December 31, and its quarterly revenue rose 17 percent to $20.1 billion. Meanwhile, the company's R&D investment in the quarter rose 38 percent year on year.

  联想第三财季净利增62%：联想集团23日在港交所披露2021/22年财政年度第三季业绩显示，集团收入首次突破200亿美元，同比增长17%；公司权益持有人应占溢利(即净利润)6.40亿美元，同比增长62%，同样创新高。研发方面，第三财季联想研发支出同比提高38%，达到35.1亿人民币。

• Yang Guofu has filed for an initial public offering in Hong Kong, the city’s stock exchange said Tuesday, making it China's first spicy hotpot chain to seek to go public. The chain had 5,783 restaurants as of Sept. 30, most of which are franchises.

  “麻辣烫第一股”赴港上市：据港交所文件，22日晚间，上海杨国福企业管理股份有限公司向港交所提交上市申请书。若上市成功，杨国福将成为“麻辣烫第一股”。截至2021年9月30日，“杨国福”品牌旗下共有5,783家餐厅，包含位于上海的3家自营餐厅，其余为国内的加盟餐厅以及21家海外餐厅。

• China's solar power capacity is estimated to grow by 75-90GW in 2022, a record high increase, as the country strives to pursue its carbon emissions reduction goals by increasing renewable energy, according to an industry association on Wednesday.

  中国2022年新增光伏装机或超75GW：2月23日，中国光伏行业协会名誉理事长王勃华表示，2022年新增光伏装机规模或将增至75GW以上，大约在75GW-90GW左右。

  Chinese tech giant ByteDance confirmed that a 28-year-old employee died on Wednesday after receiving medical attention in hospital over a 41-hour period. The Beijing-based TikTok owner bore all the medical expenses and provided full logistical support. The employee fell ill after exercising at the company gym on Monday and was admitted to hospital the following day.

  字节证实28岁员工猝死：23日下午，根据字节跳动内部公告证实，在抢救41个小时后，28岁员工吴某不幸离世。字节跳动表示，已承担全部医治费用，将向家属提供抚恤和关怀，并全力保证后勤支持。据悉，在该员工送去医院抢救后，涉事健身房就已经向内部关闭。

• Hong Kong is considering easing requirements for large, advanced technology businesses to sell stock that currently are not eligible to help them meet capital needs for research and development, Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary revealed on Wednesday.

• Chinese stocks slumped on Thursday amid the continued sell-offs in global markets. The Shanghai Composite lost 1.7 percent and the Shenzhen Component plunged 2.2 percent. The Hang Seng Index tumbled by 3.21 percent as the tech stocks took a nosedive.

  受周边市场影响，周四A股全线大跌。沪指跌1.7%，深成指跌2.2%，避险板块午后全面走强。港股恒生指数跌3.21%，科技指数重挫4.33%。
